The tree is the wild symbol. It can land on the middle three reels and it will substitute for all of the other symbols, except for the scatter symbol, to help and form winning combinations.

If you land three, four or five of the red diamond scatter symbols anywhere on the reels then you will win 8, 15 or 20 bonus spins respectively. During the bonus spins, each tree wild symbol that lands will multiply any wins to which it contributes by 2x or 3x. If more than one wild is in the combination then the payout is multiplied by the product of the wilds. For example, if a win has three wild symbols then you could have a 27x multiplier (3x3x3). Better yet, if you land two more diamonds you will win five more spins and if you land three then the bonus round is retriggered.
